CASSEL Services for the community
Counselling and Psychotherapy We provide one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy services for adults, children and young people to address a variety of problems that people experience. This could involve just a few sessions, or a long-term course of therapy. You would usually be seen once a week at a regular time that is convenient for you. Our staff and associates are experienced and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists. Crisis appointments are sometimes available. Group Therapy Working as part of a group of people who all share similar problems can be a very effective form of therapy. The centre provides group-psychotherapy and Drama-therapy whenever suitable groups can be assembled. Look at the sections on psychotherapy and on dramatherapy for more details.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) The government is placing increasing emphasis on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for people with mental health difficulties. We have been providing CBT for many years and also offer Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). Visit our CBT page.
Social work Services provided by the social workers based at the CASSEL Centre include advocacy and liaison, finding appropriate resources, applying for grants and giving practical help and advice. Look at our social work page for more details.
Referrals Doctors, hospitals and other care-service staff often refer people to us. Perhaps your GP has suggested you contact us to discuss what happens next. We evaluate each referral and suggest which of our services is appropriate, subject to the availability of staff and accomodation. In some cases we may direct people to alternative resources.
